What is the purpose of this product?

This stringer makes it very easy to build a staircase. Simply attach two 2 in x 6 in pieces of wood or Pylex aluminum steps to the stringers.

Is it possible to combine two stringers to create a stringer with more than 7 steps?

Yes, using a stringer connector. For an 8-step stringboard: 2 x 16004/16034 and 1 x 16020/16050 9-step stringboard: 16004/16034 +16005/16035 + 1 x 16020/16050 10-step stringboard: 2 x 16005/16035 + 1 x 16020/16050 11-step stringboard: 16005/16035 + 16006/16036 + 1 x 16020/16050 12-step stringboard: 2 x 16006/16036 + 1 x 16020/16050 13-step stringboard: 16006/16036 + 16007/16037 + 1 x 16020/16050 14-step stringboard: 2 x 16007/16037 + 1 x 16020/16050
